3. "Philly's Phinest" featuring Freeway, Peedi, and the Young Guns
You got to love the cheesy alliteration and the even cheesier spelling. These guys (State Property) have already done songs together so the chemistry would already be there. Plus, it's easier to group them all of them together than to think ways to put them with other rappers.
4. "Murder Marcy Bodymore MIA" featuring Young Leek and Rick Ross
Sticking with the geographical theme, Leek and Ross are the Def Jam representatives for their respective cities. With the over the top homicide references, they would have free reign to rap about how violent and dangerous their cities are. You know in a thought provoking way.
5. "Tipping The Scales" featuring Jeezy and Juelz Santana
This song title should speak for itself. Jeezy and Juelz have already made mixtapes together, so they would have no problem working together. I'm sure Juelz and Jay could put the Cam'ron and Jimmy Jones beefs on the back burner. If I was Santana though, I would make sure Jigga did not pull another LL Cool J on Canibus.
6. "Siga El Jefe" featuring Nore and Hector Bambino
After seven years of Spanish during middle school and high school, I barely remember anything and almost titled this "Dame Las Sacupuntas" (which I found out means "Give Me The Pencil Sharpener"). While I would not put it past Nore to name a song after his favorite school supply, I went with something catchier for the reggaeton track. This loosely means "follow the boss" and Hector Bambino can scream "Siga" the whole time.
7. "We Major remix" featuring Kanye and Nas
This collaboration should still be done in real life. I thought that after Nas signed to Def Jam, Jay and Kanye would surely remix "We Major" to announce Mr. Escobar's addition to the family. The beat is sick and Kanye certainly deserves to rap with the hall-of-famers. I would probably make this the first single, and it would keep the streets, the net, and the cable stations happy.
8. "In Session" featuring Rev. Run, Chrisette Michelle and Sterling Sims
So this is supposed to be like a church session with Reverend Run. I checked the Def Jam website (I did my research people) and realized I never heard of Sterling Sims and barely know anything about Chrisette Michelle other than her appearances on Kingdome Come and Hip Hop is Dead. Apparently they have "soulful" voices so I decided to put them together on the same track. By the way, would Jay-Z call himself Hova on a track with Rev. Run?
9. "Forgetting Tomorrow" featuring Ghostface, Mic Little and Megan Rochell
Originally I had Ghostface slated to be on "Tipping The Scales" with Juelz and Jeezy, but thought that would be a disservice to him. Unlike the other two, Ghost is more than a one trick pony and one of the best sentimental rappers around ("All That I Got is You" and "Josephina"). After reading their bios, I found out that Mic Little and Megan Rochell are pretty young singers so this song would be about the youth. Jay and Ghost could show their softer sides while letting the young crooners share the hook.
10. "The Legendary" featuring The Roots and Ne-Yo
Track 10 is usually an important track on an album. I feel like this collaboration would sound pretty sick. The Roots are real musicians and Black Thought, Ne-Yo and Jay-Z are all good, if not great, song writers. (The Roots are touring with Lupe Fiasco right now and if you have not seen The Roots live, do yourself a favor and buy a ticket).
11. "Green" featuring Redman and Method Man
Peep the double entendre. Meth and Red can rap about weed while Jigga can brag about stacking his money.
12. "English Channel" featuring Lady Sovereign
I couldn't think of anyone to pair Lady Sovereign with, because she is so f'ing weird. The title is corny, but so was the Austin Powers lifted hook for "Blueprint 2" and that song was pretty good (and Jay even tried to use a British accent).
13. "Pass the Mic" feat. Joe Budden, Tru Life, Sam Scarfo, Dro, and Memphis Bleek
This would be a good opportunity for all the artists to try to write their tightest verses and outdo each other and their much, much more famous boss. Then Def Jam could put a poll on their website asking "who wrote the best verse" with the winner getting their album released in 2007. Unfortunately due to technical difficulties, they would only have room for four names and Joe Budden would be ineligible.
14. "Disturbing Tha Peace" feat. Ludacris, Shawna, Serious Jones, and Bobby Valentino
Two huge posse cuts in a row? This one would be a little different because Bobby V. would sing the hook so the beat would not be as raw. Luda and his DTPers would also get a little extra marketing with the title of the track.
15. "Caribbean Cruisin'" featuring Fabolous and Rihanna
This would be in the running for the second single along with "The Legendary". Fabolous would be back to his bread and butter with an R&Bish track while Jigga would be (fill in the blank) with Rihanna.
